Tips for Following your Daydreams and Leaving your 9 to 5
With the world seemingly on the verge of ending every other year, it is becoming increasingly more important for us to focus our energy into the things that make us happy, that sustain our laughs, that support our growth, and that protect our livelihoods.
How many of us feel the need to make our parents, spouses, friends, and mentors proud? Spoiler alert — probably most of us. It is so easy to feel indebted to the people who have taken care of us and supported us. But the gag is, other people can't live our lives for us. Following your dreams may mean being selfish (in a nice way) and stopping appeasement of other people. If we spend a large portion of our energy and lives doing what other people want us to do, rather than what we actually desire, we can end up betraying ourselves.
Tips for Success
Only you can live your life. And only you know what really nourishes you. Being an entrepreneur is not easy, especially those with services not in traditional business to consumer frameworks. Don’t fret. You can still be happy, change the game, and have financial wellbeing all at the same time. Here are some tips to help you stay on track through your creative journey.
Take Risks. Be bold. Be daring. Understanding that this whole undertaking is one big fat rollercoaster/ genius/fun risks. Realize though, “that scared money don’t make no money.”
Manage Your Time Wisely. If you want to make this happen you have to be dedicated, disciplined. Go easy on the procrastination.
Do it for Love- not for likes, views, comparison, or money (in the beginning). The reality is most people do not blow up overnight. The love for your hustle is what will sustain you.
Hold on tight to your support system. They can keep you grounded and prevent you from going crazy. Your tribe can lift you up when things get hard. They can also babysit, and give feedback, cook for you, watch your content, share positive words, and show up for you in general.
Have a Plan. Set deadlines and goals for yourself. Do just go drifting in the wind thinking you will suddenly arrive from point A to B. There's level to this. Which brings me to my next favorite thing to implement:
Do 1 thing each day towards your goal. This is a no brainer.
Take care of yourself. Be kind and patient with yourself. I know it’s easier said than done. But this right here is what will prevent burn out and honestly, depression. I was guilty of beating myself, and it only prevents you from moving forward. Set some daily grounding practices (meditation, breath work, or prayer) to keep you inspired.
Most importantly, LIVE IN YOUR TRUTH. You can’t be afraid of what others will think of you. Entrepreneurship is very vulnerable and gets pretty embarrassing. Just have in mind that you will fail your way to success. Are you gonna some haters, and quite frankly your insecurities, stop you from living your dreams?
Dont Quit- Obviously. I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes
Get rich or die trying.
And if no one else told you today. . . .I love you. And you can do this. For more inspirational talk check out my YouTube episode above, and subscribe to my channel.
